Wayne County Weekends

The Chamber’s Buy Local Committee invites you to spend your summer weekends in and around Wayne County.  There will be special activities, entertainment and, of course, great food and shopping!  There will be concerts, productions, parades and more!  Be sure to invite your friends and family to join you as you move from town to town, experiencing all Wayne County has to offer.  Stay local – Buy local!

First Fridays in Richmond, visit and Buy Local at downtown and depot area businesses. Many stores have specials and discounts on this day!

Aug 2 (Fri) – Chanticleer String Quartet                            2:00 PM

Morrisson-Reeves Library, Richmond. A string quartet performance. This event is free and open to the public.

Aug 2 (Fri) & Aug 3 (Sat) – Wildlife Scavenger Hunt       10:00 AM

Hayes Arboretum,  Richmond. Find all 32 of our Indiana wildlife cut-outs! This activity is self-led and family friendly, so stop by the Nature Center anytime between 10 AM – 4 PM.

Aug 2 (Fri) – Firefly Fridays                                                  10:00 AM

Morrisson-Reeves Library, Richmond, IN. Talk! Sing! Paint! Interact with a story! Explore an Indiana Early Literacy Firefly Award Nominee Book. It’s time to have fun! Ages 0-5 years old.

Aug 9 (Fri) – Aug 11 (Sun) – Mamma Mia!                         Various

Richmond Civic Theatre, Richmond, IN. This sunny and funny musical, set on a Greek island paradise, uses the irresistible songs of the 70’s pop group ABBA. Tickets required, GoRCT.org. Also shows during the weekend of August 16th – August 18th.

Aug 10 (Sat) – 2nd Saturday in Cambridge City

Farmers market at the Bicentennial Park from 9 AM – 2 PM with art activities, food trucks and shopping at antique hotspots going on throughout the day!

Aug 10 (Sat) – Heartbreak Hill 5k                                       8:00 AM

Hagerstown Jr./Sr. High School. The Heartbreak Hill 5k is a 3.1 mile run/walk that takes place on the Hagerstown High School cross country course. 8:00 AM Registration, 9:00 AM start time.

Aug 10 (Sat) – Exhibit Opening for Robert Indiana         1:00 PM

Richmond Art Museum, Richmond. Exhibit Opening for Robert Indiana: The Richmond Connection. This important exhibit will feature an interesting revelation about the artist’s early childhood in Richmond.

Aug 17 (Sat) – Hagerstown Jubilee Days                             Various

Main Street Hagerstown. Enjoy a family outing as you browse through vendors, sample delicious foods, and shop for unique items.

Aug 23 (Fri) & Aug 24 (Sat) – Centerville Archway Days     Various

Maplewood Park, Centerville. Annual Archway Days Festival in Historic Centerville, IN at Maplewood Park. Come out and enjoy our wonderful small town festival. Friday from 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM -11:00 PM.

Aug 23 (Fri) – Touring Production of Macbeth                     Various

Elstro Plaza, Richmond. The Cincinnati Shakespeare Company’s Touring Production of Macbeth is coming to Elstro Plaza for one amazing free show. Food Trucks & Wine @ 5:30 pm. Performance Begins @ 7:00 pm

Elstro Plaza, Richmond. Gennett Walk of Fame Afterparty with Live Jazz. A free Richmond Parks and Recreation series.

Sep 13 (Fri) – Lions Fall Festival in Fountain City              Various

Fountain City. Formerly known as Levi Coffin Days, the Fountain City Lions Club Fall Festival is filled with food, fun, and shopping opportunities. Friday, September 13 until Sunday, September 15.

Sep 14 (Sat) – Kidsfest Moonlight Parade                                    8:00 PM

Glen Miller Park, Richmond. This year’s theme (Transforming R Future) is centered around recognizing the transformers, superheroes and heroes in all of us!

Sep 14 (Sat) – Flying Eagles 5K                                          9:00 AM

Western Wayne Elementary School, Cambridge City. The course runs along the northern edge of Cambridge City and through residential neighborhoods. All proceed go to benefit the Western Wayne Elementary School PTO. Entry Fee.
