Chamber Blog – Congratulations to the Class of 2017

By Ed DeLaPaz,

Now that all the College and High School graduations have taken place, The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce wishes to congratulate all of those who have graduated and are embarking upon their next journey in life. We also know that you are receiving a lot of advice, probably coming at you from all walks of life, but if you will allow us, we wish to offer three simple thoughts.

First, and most importantly, celebrate. Celebrate your accomplishments and be proud of all you have done to get to where you are at. Too often we rush into what’s next, without celebrating the here and now.

Secondly, enjoy this time in your life right now. There will not be a better time in your life than the college years or the years that take shape after college graduation as you start, to what becomes, your professional careers. Follow your dreams, aim high, and never give up on what your passion may be.

Finally, the only failure you will ever have, is if you stop learning. Don’t be afraid of failure or positive risk. Some of the greatest life lessons we learn develop out of true real-life experiences. It is often said by those who are great successes in life, that people will learn more from their failures than you ever will from your success.  You are the future of this county, state, and country. We are so very proud of your accomplishments and look forward to each of you being the future leaders of this region. We have tremendous faith in you. Best wishes to all of our 2017 graduates.

Chamber Blog – Promoting Good Health & Wellness

By Ed DeLaPaz,

This week the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce partnered with the community to generate an interest and enthusiasm in promoting conscious good health and wellness. The state of Indiana is consistently in the top five (5) in the country of every major list when it comes to the ease of doing business, being business friendly, entrepreneurial, and one of the fastest growing business states. Where Indiana lags behind, and is constantly challenged, is in the area of health and wellness. Statistically the state ranks in the low forties as one of the least healthiest states in the country. So weeks like “Wellness Week” are so critical to a community’s success. Make no mistake about it, the health and wellness of a community is a huge economic development driver, as well as a major factor in recruiting and retaining a vibrant workforce. So all of us at the Chamber are very proud of our region for taking this challenge on, and bringing an awareness to an issue so critical to the long term success of our state. Thanks to all of those individuals who helped to make “Health and Wellness” week a huge success.
