Chamber Blog – The Spirit of Golfing

This past week, The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce held its annual golf outing, where 124 golfers teed off. What a great day it turned out to be and what a great job Forest Hills Country Club did with all of the golf logistics. Simply put, as far back as anyone can remember, chambers of commerce all across the country annually host a golf outing. Many chamber programs and initiatives come and go, but the traditional golf outing has stood the test of time. It really is one of the pre-eminent kick offs to our summer vacations. What it also has become is one of the best and most fun network days of the year. It is great to see the traditions that take place; the spirt and comradery that happens; as well the competitive nature that takes over in each foursome. I would be remiss if I did not thank all that played, all that volunteered, all that sponsored the event, as well as all of the many chamber businesses and organizations that were represented on the golf course at many of the holes. It really is one event that people are in great spirits, and love the positive jovial networking that takes place. It does not matter who the winners are or who came in second, as everyone enjoyed the day, the comradery and shared in the fun with the rest of the community.  I always revert back to the golfers mantra, which is always:

“Remember, any BAD day on the golf course, is still better than any GOOD day in the office.”
